چکیده

Deregulation in prostaglandin (PG) biosynthesis, oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis play a major role in the pathogenesis of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)-induced gastropathology. Although the underlying molecular mechanisms involved in this pathophysiological condition is not fully understood, considerable progress has been made in recent years. Also, substantial progress has been made in the search for safe and cost effective gastroprotective agents against NSAID-induced gastropathy. In this article, we briefly describe the contemporary advancement in the field of NSAID-induced gastropathy research and would like to provide a concise view focusing the underlying role of oxidative stress and inflammation in this pathophysiology. Simultaneously, the recent trends in the pursuit of gastroprotective agent have also been highlighted purposely.

Dalteparin as a Novel Therapeutic Agent to Prevent Diabetic Encephalopathy by Targeting Oxidative Stress and Inflammation

Introduction: Hepcidin is the principal modulator of systemic iron metabolism, and its role in the brain has been clarified recently. Studies have shown hepcidin plays an important role for in neuronal iron load and inflammation. This is of significance because neuronal iron load and inflammation are pathophysiological processes that have been highly linked to neurodegeneration. Moreover, the a...

Genistein-attenuated Gastric Injury on Indomethacin-induced Gastropathy in Rats

OBJECTIVES To investigates the mucoprotective effect of genistein on gastric injury in rats with indomethacin (IMN)-induced gastropathy. METHODS Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups. Group 1 (control; n = 6) was given distilled water (DW). Group 2 (IMN; n = 6) was given indomethacin (IMN) 150 mg/kg dissolved in 5% sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3-) 1 mL/rat via intragast...

O-1: Thraputic Effect of Silymarin, Celecoxib and Exogenous Testosterone on Varicocele-Induced Disorders; Possible Mechanisms

Background Varicocele (VCL) is characterized by a progressive disorder which is defined by tortuosity of the pampiniform plexus veins that exerts bilateral impacts. 50-60 percent of males with infertility problems are suffering from VCL. Considering VCL-induced massive problems in human fertilizing potential, investigating different aspects of VCL-induced derangements is gaining considerable at...

Does gallic acid improve cardiac function by attenuation of oxidative stress and inflammation in an elastase-induced lung injury?

Objective(s): Cardiovascular disease has an important role in mortality caused by lung injury. Emphysema is associated with impaired pulmonary gas exchange efficiency and airflow limitation associated with small airway inflammation. The aim was to evaluate the interactions between lung injury, inflammation, and cardiovascular disease. Since gallic acid has antioxidant ...

Paraquat-induced systemic inflammation and increased oxidative markers in rats improved by Zataria multiflora extract and carvacrol

Objective: Paraquat (PQ) is a herbicide which induces oxidative stress and inflammation. Anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects were shown for Zataria multiflora (Z. multiflora) and carvacrol previously. The effects of Z. multiflora hydroalcoholic extract and carvacrol on systemic inflammation and oxidative stressinduced by inhaled PQ were examine...
